A Ford Mustang took a wrong turn – literally – ending up inside an Idaho home with a teenage passenger. The driver, who later fled the scene, faces serious charges including felony injury to a child, DUI, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The wild incident unfolded on July 18 around 9 pm. For reasons best left unexplained, a white sixth-gen Ford Mustang 5.0 with blue stripes crashed through the wall of an Idaho home, barreling into the back room. Miraculously, no one was home at the time, but the situation quickly became more complicated.

Witnesses reported that the driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. When police arrived, they found only a teenage passenger inside the Mustang and a loaded firearm resting beside the driver’s seat.

Fortunately, the teenage passenger sustained only minor injuries from the crash. The driver, 27-year-old Matthew Jeffs of Emmett, was found half a mile away and was subsequently arrested by deputies.

Police transported the suspect to the hospital in order to treat his minor injuries. The 27-year old man was later booked into the Ada County Jail, and is expected to appear on court on August 1 for the preliminary hearing.

According to authorities, the suspect faces a slew of charges, including felony injury to child, misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident, and misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons under the influence of alcohol. Idaho News 6 reports that the bond has been set at $50,000. Let’s hope the teenage boy makes a speedy recovery.
