It’s Not Just Houses, A Parking Spot In Boston Listed For $375,000

Offbeat

If you live in a city and drive a nice car, it’s understandable that you might want to keep it garaged. But whoever buys this garage space recently listed for sale in Boston is going to have to be driving a fairly serious supercar to ensure the car is worth more than the parking spot.

Offered for sale through luxury realtor Campion and Company, the parking space in question carries a $375,000 price, making it as expensive as the average American house, although not in Boston, where homes cost around 75 per cent more than the national average.

Your money buys you a single parking space in a heated garage in Boston’s upmarket Columbus neighborhood which we’d hop is prettier than the one in the library pic we used at the top of this story. It’s located under 201 West Brookline, which began life as a church at the turn of the 20th century, but was turned into expensive condos a couple of years go. Entry is through a car elevator.

That $375k price means you’d have to be parking something more senior than a Lamborghini Huracan STO ($328,000) or Rolls Royce Cullinan ($335,000) to have the car outrank its parking space.

Some locals won’t struggle to find the money. According to the Boston Herald, a 3,804 sq-ft penthouse in the building above the garage recently sold for around $6.3 million.

The Herald goes on to explain that a cheaper option for drivers with verifiable proof of local residency is to obtain a street parking permit for $25 per year. But parking spaces in the surrounding vicinity are hard to find due to the sheer number of cars, and winter weather can bury cars overnight under a mountain of snow.

We can’t help but wonder whether prices like these might fall when advances in autonomous technology eventually allows us to be dropped off at the curb and send our car away to find its own (much cheaper) home for the night.
